2014 Monlau Team 12 Silverstone GPAlex Rins third fastest in free practice on Friday at the British track, Alex Marquez sixth.

With a typically British punctuality, the Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders were out on track on Friday morning for the first practice session for the Moto3 class at Silverstone. The venue for the British Grand Prix saw a strong pace set by Alex Marquez, who was the third fastest rider in the initial run and was 0.078s off morning top-man Jack Miller. Teammate Alex Rins was fourth in FP1, with a best time of 2:16.655.

In the afternoon, Emilio Alzamora’s proteges continued work on the setup of their Honda bikes, setting a fast pace in the process. Rins was a second faster than in the morning session, setting a best time of 2:15.634 to place third overall for the day, 0.062s down on Danny Kent. Marquez headed the timesheets for much of the session, eventually placing sixth with a 2:15.870 time better than his morning best.

The third free practice session for the British Grand Prix will be held on Saturday morning at 9:00am local time.

Alex Rins – 3rd, 2´15.634 sec, 29 laps, 171 km.
«We are pleased how the first day went and with the progress we have continued to make since Indianapolis. Perhaps the track conditions were not the best and, although the grip improved a little in the second session, we encountered more bumps than last season and that made it a bit tougher. We need to try some things heading into the final free practice, so that we can focus on our race pace. I felt comfortable from the start, riding alone. We eventually found a rider to use as a reference, which worked well».

Alex Marquez – 6th, 2´15.870 sec., 28 laps, 165 km.
«For this first day of practice at Silverstone we have encountered some pretty tough weather conditions and in general everyone has found it harder to get close to last year’s times. The wind and cold meant that we had to ride with a far greater margin for error. Anyway, I think in the end we have had a good Friday and in the second session I felt pretty good with the setup we had. We’re not up at the top, but we have good pace. Tomorrow we will continue in this way for further improvement, as the times are certain to be lowered».
